March 2023 Newsletter

It’s a time to come together here in the studio

With an outrageous amount of activities and events behind us after only 3 months of 2023, we’re excited to focus on more in-house events and opportunities coming up in April and May.

We’re excited to host a closing reception for our current arrangement on the project wall. Please join us Sunday April 30th from 3 to 5 to celebrate the works of Lisa Haque, Nat Sassine, and Nicholas Waguespack. We’ll have snacks, bevs, and good conversation a plenty! This is also a great time to stop by and see the studio if you haven’t been to our (still relatively) new location here in Miami or if you haven’t been by in a while.

We’re also pleased to announce our newly released workshop schedule for the second quarter 2023. We have several new workshops, with a focus on long form evening workshops to go deep into each subject and promote sustainable habits around your art practice.

We’re also very excited to be participating in Fountainhead’s Artist’s Open Studio May 11. Come by from 11am to 6pm to see the work of our founder, Ingrid Schindall, and our Education and Artist Relations manager, Brooke Frank. Did you know we each have our own personal studios within IS Projects? This would be a great time to come by and take a look!

We had a great time hosting the Printmaker’s Playground for SGCI this March. Thanks to everyone who came and to Joseph Velasquez for putting this together!

O, Miami Festival

IS Projects, Nocturnal Press, and Ingrid all have a long standing symbiotic relationship with O, Miami Poetry Festival. If you haven’t encountered the festival before, it’s a month long festival with the simple mission of finding ways for everyone in Miami-Dade County to encounter a poem in the month of April.

We’ve been collaborating through multiple projects since 2016 and have been printing the festival totes since 2018. This year, Ingrid has turned the flub totes of years past into paper pulp and is popping up at events throughout the month to make paper with festival goers. The next event is on April 26th for the ZipOdes finale at Viscaya from 6-9pm

Be sure to check out the O, Miami website for more events and to sign up! The totes are free but you have to visit an event to get one!

Monthly studio passes are here!

Limited to 4 passes per month, our monthly pass (or golden ticket as we have been lovingly calling it) allows IS Projects Studio Members the opportunity to come in and work independently on their own projects during our normal weekday business hours as well as any open studio sessions this month without any additional studio rental or open studio session fees. Studio Membership is required to utilize the monthly studio passclick here to learn about our membership programs and sign up!

Studio Members are welcome to use any equipment they feel comfortable working on without instruction. Instruction can be arranged during a studio pass month for a discounted hourly rate of $45 per hour. Oil-based inks and ink modifiers for etching, relief, and letterpress are included, as are cleaning supplies, photo emulsion for screen printing, and newsprint. Screen printing ink and a selection of fine art papers can be purchased from us on site.
