Studio Insider Newsletter: May

Studio Insider: Keeping you on top of the good stuff

If you are receiving this email, it is because you are an active part of our Miami studio’s ecosystem! The purpose of this newsletter is to keep our Studio Insiders (studio members, staff, interns, and resident artists) in the loop on what’s happening at the studio in the coming month. It’s meant to be a bare-bones run down to help you maximize your studio time and help you stay on top of deadlines, deals, and events. This email only goes out to the folks who we know might need it. Keep an eye out for it in your inbox!

DATES + NEWS

Upcoming Deadlines:

Deadline for Spare Change Portfolio Exchange is May 2nd — if you want to work on your exchange portfolio here, get in touch ASAP! Book some time on the presses, schedule some time to learn how to do that one thing you’re wanting to do.

A number of the exchange portfolios have arrived and they look fantastic — if you’re signed up to submit some prints, you are in for a real treat.

If you’re at risk of being a tiny bit late, please email brooke@isprojectsfl.com to talk it over.

Announcements:

Let’s start with an answer to our most asked question:

Q: Did Ingrid have the baby yet?

A: Yes! We are very happy to share that baby Gia arrived on March 16th, and Ingrid and Johnny are settling into parenthood. Everyone is safe and taking all the naps that they can!

Last newsletter, we took some time to remind you that your patience and support are more important than ever. We need all the help we can get to get us through the next few months

What to expect from us:

  • Screenprinting projects and instruction are going to have slower turn-around times

  • Communications in general will be a little slower than average, especially direct messages to Ingrid.

How to support the studio when we need it the most:

  • Come in and shop for paper! (and/or ink, carving tools, sharpening tools, linen thread, blades, bone folders, or any other pro-quality print and book tools)

  • Book some studio time with Brooke. We’ve got lots of availability on the etching presses and the bookbinding tools. This is a great time to get an introduction to either.

  • Sign up for a workshop! We’ve got some new ones in this newsletter and a few other new ones in the works.

    • Tom Virgin will be teaching a series of workshops involving the Vandercooks starting this Thursday with Linocut on the Vandercook

    • Folks looking to level up their bookbinding skills can join Bookbinding Level 2!

LEARN + MAKE

Spring is in full swing

We’ll keep releasing a workshop here and there, but the selection will be pretty limited. If you see something you want to learn, don’t wait on it!

Got something more specific you want to learn?

Don’t forget that we’ve added a few of our favorite Private Instruction options to our Classes + Events page — just add them to your cart and check out to book them. We’ll reach out to schedule your private workshop ASAP. If you want to set up Private Instruction for something a little more off-the-beaten-path, you can still absolutely do so through this link. Members: You get 20% off on all Private Instruction! Search your emails from us for your code. If you’re purchasing through the website, use your member code at checkout. Members will find that scheduling Assisted Studio Time is more practical for one-on-one learning, but Private Instruction lets you set up a workshop for you and up to three other folks. As long as a member is booking the workshop, the discount applies to the whole purchase! We want it to be easy for you to share the things you love with the people around you.

Already know what you want to make? Come and make it:

  • We offer Members-Only Studio Passes for either 7-day or 30-day time periods — you set the start date with us! We can only support 4 Studio Passes at a time — if you know you’ve got a busy month coming up, reserve yours ASAP.

  • Open Studio Sessions are posted through June! Members can reserve their spots in a session by purchasing it on our website.
