4 Week Screenprinting Intensive (June)

from $350.00

Instructor: Ingrid Schindall

4 week course meeting once a week on Tuesdays from 6-9PM on the following dates:

Week 1: June 4th, 2024 - Intro to technique and image preparation

Week 2: June 11th, 2024 - Coating screens and finalizing images

Week 3: June 18th, 2024 - Burning screens and printing

Week 4: June 25th, 2024 - Printing

Participants in this four week course will start with an idea or an image, and will leave with a small edition of screenprints. Skills addressed include digital file preparation, screen preparation, registration, printing, and editioning.

Screenprinting is one of the most well-known and versatile forms of fine art printmaking. This technique can be used to print anything from gig posters to t-shirts to fine art prints. Participants will plan their image, create their films, prepare and burn screens, and print an edition of their own prints.

This workshop is limited to 4 participants so everyone will receive specific and personal instructions and assistance. This intensive is designed not only to produce an edition but to also instill the foundation of screenprinting knowledge so that all participants can do this process on their own later on. All necessary materials will be provided, however, you are welcome to bring anything you'd like to print on (for example: blank t-shirts, old magazine pages, aprons, napkins, etc.)

We provide materials for the intensive, and typically, participants just use our screens. Participants may choose to purchase their own brand new screens through us for $90 more to take home and keep. If you select this option, you will take home TWO new aluminum-framed 23” x 31” 230 mesh screens from the workshop.

Materials included:
- 32 sheets of 9x12” screen printing paper
- Ink
- All necessary consumables including: emulsion, film, tracing paper, cleaning supplies, gloves, etc

This course will qualify participants to work independently in our screenprinting facilities during studio hours.

Additionally, participants are invited to attend Open Studio sessions (normally reserved for Studio Members) which occur between the first and last dates of this course. Access to Open Studio sessions can be purchased through the Classes page of our website.
