Want to learn something new?

There are a lot of skills and techniques we’d love to share with you. Whether you’re looking to learn something new, brush up on something you used to love, or share something you love with a few friends or collaborators, we are happy to offer you the option of Private Instruction. This is the best way to learn exactly what you want to learn at a time that’s convenient for you.

Private Instruction is designed to accommodate between one and four artists who are looking to get deeper into the book and printmaking world. The course exposes participants to a wide range of printmaking techniques and then allows them to select one technique to focus on for the duration of the course. Participants will then learn about the history and application of the technique they select as well as how to use it. Together with the assistance of an IS Projects collaborator, participants will take one print or book project from start to finish in our common studio space. Private Instruction includes instruction, assisted, and unassisted studio time, as well as certain relevant materials and a flat file drawer for the duration of the course.

Each day of Private Instruction is 4 hours and the number of days required to learn any given process will vary.

Techniques we’re happy to teach you:

  • Letterpress

  • Relief: Linocut, Woodcut

  • Intaglio: Etching, Drypoint, Solar plate

  • Collograph

  • Lithography: Pronto plate
