Feeling like a dandelion 🌼

The move has begun!

It’s wild to try to organize a move of over 50,000lbs of equipment but it’s happening! Throughout this process, one thing that keeps popping up in my mind is the image of a dandelion with all of it’s seeds being blown away in the wind. That’s what this move feels like.

Over the last few weeks I’ve been finding homes for all of the equipment that will not fit in to our smaller digs at Bakehouse. While I thought it would be sad to see everything go, I’ve found that it has actually been incredibly moving to see everything find such loving homes and to feel each person’s excitement to bring my beloved equipment into their studios, homes, and hearts. Each piece is a seed that will land and allow it’s new owner to grow and expand their own practice.

All the while, I have somehow been able to hold on to everything that I need to keep doing the work that matters to me most: working with artists to bring their visions to life on paper. (The plant doesn’t die after the flower goes to seed.) We’ll still be offering screenprinting, letterpress, book arts, fine art printing, and papermaking at Bakehouse! We’re sorting out the logistics of how all that will work but the future is very bright and I can’t wait to share it with you.

For now, we’re focused on moving everything into the Bakehouse by the end of this month. Then it’ll take a couple of months to get everything back up and running. Here’s our timeline so far:

  • August: move everything to Bakehouse and find new homes for anything that won’t be joining us in the new setup. IF YOU HAVE ANYTHING IN THE STUDIO YOU NEED TO PICK IT UP ASAP

    • August 18-22: Big moves! Volunteers needed to get everything out and safe! Submit your phone number here to be added to the whatsapp group for specific times and tasks

    • August 23: 1-5pm Last last studio sale EVERYTHING MUST GO type of energy

  • September: organize and set up like crazy! Finalize and publish access protocols, membership, and keyholder residency info.

    • September 27: IS Projects 11 year anniversary! (Not sure if we’ll be able to pull anything together for this but we’ll try)

  • October: continue setting up new spaces. Hopefully we’ll have papermaking set up and running by the end of the month (keep your eyes peeled for a papermaking workshop?!?!)

  • November: we’ll finally have access to all of the new spaces at Bakehouse so we can finalize set up and get back to printing with you ❤️

There are still a few big items left on our studio sale page (mostly wooden flat files 😍) We also have a TON of paper that we’d love to not have to move.

There are so many thank yous to send that I think I’ll be dedicating an entire section of the next newsletter

Lots of love,
Ingrid
