March of Madness

On View: January 2019 - March 2020

March of Madness: The Prints of Raj Bunnag exhibits Bunnag's current series, March of the Druggernaughts, which addresses the failures of the war on drugs. In this series, each drug is transformed into a godzilla like monster, running amuck in each of their given home settings and draws inspiration from various depictions of war through printmaking. From Callot's Miseries and Misfortunes of war, Goya's Disasters of War, and Sandow Birks Depravities of War, each artist captures the atrociousness of war and its effects. Bunnag exaggerates tales about the war on drugs through exposing the already outlandish people and circumstances involved and how it's failed communities around the world while continuing to be one of the main reasons for militarizing police forces.

RAJ BUNNAG graduated from the Maryland Institute College of Art in 2012 with a BFA in Printmaking. He currently lives and works in Durham, NC where he continues to create his art, farm, and teach. Whether it is teaching printmaking and drawing to Duke students or teaching local high schoolers, Raj finds his inspiration in spreading the gospel of print and educating people on how the printed world is still powerful in a digitally dominated society.
