The Sea Turtle and The Cleaning Station

40.00

"The Sea Turtle and The Cleaning Station" is a piece in the Sea Symbiosis series which portrays animals that work together in the ocean. The Cleaning Station is a colony of fish that live on the coral reef. Pelagic creatures, such as Sea Turtles, Manta Rays, and Sharks, often pick up unwanted parasites in their travels across the oceans. When they reach the reef they hand out in the cleaning station to allow the reef fish to eat away the parasites and dead skin cells. The cleaning station fish get a nice meal and the sea turtle leaves feeling refreshed.

Each animal was hand carved into a linoleum block then inked up with a hand roller and run through an etching press. This process takes time and the results show slight variations and subtleties to each piece that cannot be reproduced through mass production.

This piece is sold unframed and will be shipped flat.
