Sunfish, also known as Mola Mola, are a large oceanic fish known for their unusual shape and playful demeanor. They casually bask at the ocean surface soaking up the sun's warmth when they are not hunting for their favorite snack, jellyfish. They are known to divers as playful and curious fish who often swim right up to divers to get a good look and try to figure out what this bubbly lanky creature is. They are the heaviest known bony fish in the world with the average adult weighing 550-2,200 pounds!
Sunfish was hand carved into a linoleum block then inked up with a hand roller and run through an etching press. This process takes time and the results show slight variations and subtleties to each piece that cannot be reproduced through mass production.
