Moonfish, also known as Opah, are a large deep water fish that can grow up to a massive 6.5' long and weigh up to 600 pounds! They are one of the very few warm bodied fish which gives them an advantage in the frigid depths where they hunt. They have beautiful coloration with a silver body and bright red spots and fins. Little is known about their habits but hopefully we can find out more soon.
Moonfish was hand carved into a linoleum block then inked up with a hand roller and run through an etching press. This process takes time and the results show slight variations and subtleties to each piece that cannot be reproduced through mass production.
This piece is sold unframed and will be shipped flat.
